I originally qualified in the Integrative approach to counselling. This provided me with a broad knowledge base and a variety of ways of working with my clients. I then enrolled on a course at Edinburgh University and graduated with Distinction in my Counselling degree. This training has enabled me to understand at a deeper level, psychodynamic theory and the values of the person- centred approach. I have also completed additional training in Couple Counselling.

I am always curious about the true impact of our past on our present. However, I also believe that people can make positive changes to their life. If a person is offered sound therapeutic support within a safe and containing relationship, the person can begin to resolve their traumas and to heal their hurt. Sadly, a difficult past event cannot be eradicated from our lives but, with help, we can decide its influence on our future.

For many years I worked for the Post Natal Depression Service in Edinburgh as a therapist, offering counselling to both mothers and fathers who have suffered depression or anxiety after the birth of a child. I have counselled young children both as a private practitioner and as a volunteer therapist for the Place2Be, an organisation dedicated to offering children counselling support within schools. My private practice is located in both Edinburgh and Midlothian and I have counselled clients who have brought a range of issues.
